Coalfire® UK Signs Armed Forces Covenant in Commitment to Veterans
Manchester, UK – April 17, 2019 – International cybersecurity consultancy Coalfire has formalised its commitment to supporting ex-military personnel in the UK after adding its name to the Armed Forces Covenant.
In a move that brings parity with its US operations, the agreement sees Coalfire’s UK team become formally recognised as a ‘forces-friendly employer’ by the British Armed Forces. Coalfire joins a network of more than 3,000 organisations committed to ensuring fair access to skilled employment for those who have served in the British Armed Forces.
Headquartered in Manchester, Coalfire’s UK division has already trained a number of veterans to consultant level and is actively recruiting more ex-servicemen and women, having seen the positive impact and transferable skills they bring to the business.
Andy Barratt, managing director of Coalfire UK, said: “The widening cyber skills gap is well-documented and encompasses almost every area of the economy. However, given their discipline and understanding of complex threat landscapes, there is a clear link between those who have served in the Armed Forces and a career in cybersecurity.
“Many veterans face the challenge of competing for desirable roles across the economy because their existing skillset and business potential isn’t immediately reflected in their job history.
“We’ve seen first-hand how, with the right technical training and support, veterans can become an integral part of the team in a very short space of time. It’s our duty to provide them with equal opportunity for a seat at the table and, as such, we’re looking forward to furthering our relationship with the Armed Forces and its recruitment partners.”
In addition to signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Coalfire is fundraising in aid of military charity Help for Heroes, which supports service personnel and military veterans with injuries, illnesses and wounds sustained while serving in the British Armed Forces.
